About This Series

Ever since I could drive a car and get to “gigs”, my life’s work has been focused upon self expression/communication from the piano. “Back in the day”, private teaching was a vibrant part of this, but as performing opportunities expanded, the ability to maintain a regular teaching schedule was crowded out. Throughout this time, I have pondered, explored, and sought new and creative ways to encourage those pursuing the musical arts. The goal in all this is simple: to guide the student to the place where artistic expression becomes a essential part of who they are. Once the “fire” is “lit”, it remains fueled by the light and heat it gives. After many years of collecting thoughts, and much experience in sharing them, “Lessons for the Thoughtful Pianist” now becomes the repository, and the means by which I can continue to prod artistic growth; both yours and mine. The resources described below include video (free - posted on YouTube), corresponding lesson articles and instructional CDs for each video (not free, but not a bad deal either), and an organizational system that will allow for both: in-depth presentation, and accessibility. This is not a “10 easy steps”, or “overnight success” program. I’m in no hurry here, and neither should you be. Join me on the delightful path of discovery, expression, growth, and wonder. Enjoy your musical journeys!
